Family Horizons was founded in 1954, when we received a credit union charter allowing us to serve the financial needs of Naval Avionics’ employees and their families. The original “branch” was located within the Naval Avionics facility, about a mile from where the current East 21st Street branch is located.
In the 1960s and ‘70s, Family Horizons expanded membership to include employees of the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). This expanded membership led to the opening of a second location – a branch that enabled us to serve those new members. We’re proud that Family Horizons continues to serve a great many of those members today.
A milestone was reached in 1986 when we completed construction on our first free-standing, full-service facility – the 21st Street Branch. With new walk-in and drive-thru services, Family Horizons’ members were able to enjoy modern banking conveniences.
In 2004, Family Horizons took the next step towards continued growth when we applied for and received a charter to service Hancock County. This enabled us to open our Greenfield branch to provide friendly, one-on-one service to a new community of members. The following year, we gained a charter that enabled us to service anyone who lives or works in Marion and surrounding counties (with the exception of Center Township). This allowed us to offer membership to the more than 1.5 million people who live in Boone, Hamilton, Hancock, Hendricks, Johnson, Madison, Marion, Morgan and Shelby Counties.
In 2008, Family Horizons joined the Co-Op Shared Branch Banking network, allowing members and non-members to access their accounts at a wide range of locations across the country.
Today, Family Horizons provides members with the latest in financial security and banking conveniences, making it easier than ever to enjoy our outstanding products and services.
